Networking guru Dr Ivan Misner warns of 'tapping up' on Facebook and Twitter

One of the world's leading business networking gurus has hit out the explosion of "premature solicitation" for work on social media websites by people who hunt for contacts rather than cultivate relationships.

Dr Ivan Misner, the US founder of Business Network International (BNI), which has 120,000 members globally and 15,000 in the UK, said that the misuse of internet self-publicising tools such as LinkedIn.com and Twitter is fuelling a backlash against business networking.

He said too many people are now being tapped up for business by people they did not really know or trust. "It comes from people who either practice premature solicitation or receive it and are frustrated," he said. "They think hitting on people to do business is networking. And people don't like it. There is this backlash against bad networking."

Dr Misner, who is in the UK this week to mark his network's 25th anniversary, believes social media sites can be as effective in drumming up business as local chambers of commerce or rotary clubs. But he warned that the web exposes the amateur networker mercilessly: "I say absolutely do social media. It substantially builds the visibility side of your business. But everything is faster online. If you are a really bad at networking you are bad at light speed. One of the world's leading business networking gurus has hit out the explosion of "premature solicitation" for work on social media websites by people who hunt for contacts rather than cultivate relationships.

Enthusiasm is one of the most powerful engines of succes

"Enthusiasm is one of the most powerful engines of success. When you do a thing, do it with all your mind. Put your whole soul to it. Stamp it with your own personality. Be active, be energetic, be enthusiastic and faithful, and you will accomplish your object. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm."

The Courage to change

The Courage To Change

Bob proctor writes: In October 2011 it will be fifty years since I first picked up Napoleon Hill's classic Think and Grow Rich, and I've never put it down. It was the first of a few thousand books that now sit in my library, a library I've grown to love. In fact, I'm sitting in the middle of it as I write this story.

I've been absolutely fascinated with the study of success, finding out what you and I are capable of doing, why people do what they do and why many people never do what they really want to do. It's a little over forty-two years since I began working in this field full-time, devoting all my energy toward helping individuals realize that all things are possible, that you and I do have infinite potential, that we truly are God's highest form of creation. Now, forty-two years later, our company LifeSuccess Productions operates in over 80 countries.

So, needless to say, I've not only read, I have written and seen many many success stories. Almost all of them are about the poor boy or girl who makes good, who rises to a position of power, possibility and promise.

The story I'm about to tell you isn't about a person that goes from a laboring position to the Board Room. No, it's the story of a young woman who went from a Board Room to a Board Room. However, when she made her move it was a totally different Board Room that had attracted her.

This is the story of tremendous courage. It's a story of walking away from something that had taken two decades to build not to mention a high six-figure income that was being left behind. It's the story of a person going against conventional wisdom and the dictates of friends, relatives and colleagues.

On August 18, 2006, the young lady walked into a three-day seminar that I was conducting in the city of Vancouver in Washington State. Little did she realize that everything in her life was about to change and change dramatically.

Sandra Gallagher had a thriving law practice that she had built over a twenty-year period. This wasn't any ordinary law practice, it was a complex corporate finance, bank merger & acquisitions practice. She was highly respected in her field. The fact that she had built such a successful practice in a very complex and specialized field was no surprise to her parents, other members of her family or to many of the people in her industry. Twenty years earlier she graduated the top banking law student in all of the United States. Needless to say she had her choice of the top law firms she could go to work with.

However, this story is not about how she built a successful practice in the legal profession. I share this with you to let you know that she was in the top percentile of her profession and her income reflected her success -- And she was about to walk away from it all. By most people's standards, she had it all - she was beautiful, intelligent, wealthy and had earned the respect of her peers. And she was about to leave it all behind. Why? Why would she do that?

You see, the truth is most people wouldn't and that is what makes her truly an extraordinary human being who, in her own words, is marching to the tune of a different drummer, is living the life that she believes God meant her to live. She would be the first to tell you that she believes we have been blessed with tremendous potential and that we are here to do God's work. Since God is the creator, God's work is creation, and you and I have been blessed with creative faculties, so it's our responsibility to create greater good all the days of our life.

Conventional wisdom would say this woman was crazy. She was losing her mind. She had what most people wanted; but she did not have what she wanted. That's the story I want to share with you.

At a particular point early in the seminar I asked the audience a question - "What do you want? What do you Really Want?"

And then I went on to explain that very few people are going after what they truly want in life. Most people settle for what they think they can get.

I kept encouraging the audience to let their mind drift, activate their imagination and see themselves living the life they really wanted to live, I also made it clear that they didn't have to know how they were going to be able to do it. It wasn't necessary to know where the required money or other resources would come from.

Now keep in mind, this is an exercise that very few people get involved in. If you doubt this, stop the average person on the street and ask them "What do you really want?" They'll probably look at you like a deer in headlights - they won't know what you mean.

Or take a look at how most people are living - do they look like they're getting what they want? Of course not.

The real deep truth in what I was saying clicked in Sandra Gallagher's mind and although she did not dislike her law practice, when she gave it serious thought it wasn't what she really wanted. She got thinking about it, and she realized she was probably following in her father's footsteps who was a very successful banking attorney himself.

Because of Sandy's superior intellect doing well in her field was not difficult, in fact it was almost natural, it always had been. She was always at the top of her class. But she realized in an ideal situation if she had a choice of how she lived, how she spent her days, she would not be doing what she was doing. She wasn't quite sure what she would be doing but she knew that the law practice would not be a part of it.

And then suddenly she realized that she did have a choice. In fact, J. Martin Kohe wrote a book entitled Your Greatest Power and your greatest power is your ability to choose. And although most people would never leave a successful practice, whether they were excited about it or not, she was not most people. She said after that seminar it became a priority to her that she enjoy how she spent her days.

What I'm sharing with you are personal thoughts that Sandy has shared with me and she gave me permission to share them with you.

She said before the seminar was over, although she had not decided to leave her law practice, she had decided that she would like to be on the inner circle of my company LifeSuccess Productions. She said she didn't know what that meant, and she shared the dream with no one. Sandy made a decision she would seriously study the work I did. She later told me she had made up her mind, whatever I was selling or teaching, she was going to buy.

She found out that we had a consulting program where we train consultants to Speak, to Teach, to Coach, to Consult with individuals and organizations. She became a certified consultant of our materials which enabled her to teach our material anywhere in the world.

After she became involved in the Consulting Program, she became aware of our coaching program. She immediately enrolled in the program and over the next 13 months on a weekly basis she was involved in a program of personal growth that was transforming her entire thought process.

While all this was taking place she approached one of the executives in our company and said "You know, I've gone to some of the best Universities in the world, I've studied in America and the UK, I've worked in three of the largest law firms in America, and nowhere did anyone teach me the information that LifeSuccess is teaching me. It is the most important information that I have ever studied."

She went on to say that she would like to start LifeSuccess Corporate, a division of our company and take this information into the Board Room of her clients. She said "They need what you've got and I've decided I want to create a program with Bob Proctor. The starting point is thinking. At present the starting point is the balance sheet or the sales sheet or the P&L. See that's the manifestation of past thinking and if it's going to change the thinking has to change. I've got a program created in my mind called Thinking Into Results."

After investing a healthy six-figure sum of her own money, she gave birth to LifeSuccess Corporate in partnership with LifeSuccess Productions. The end result was the production of one of the best programs I've ever had the privilege of being involved in. When the program was complete I picked it up and looked at it and I looked at her and at that moment she earned my complete respect. She had taken absolute responsibility for her success. She didn't expect anyone else to do the job for her. Sandra Gallagher wrote, produced and directed me through this entire program. Thinking Into Results is without question one of the most effective programs for producing new, improved results that any corporation has seen.

This woman did such an extraordinary job that in January of 2009 I offered her the position of President & CEO of the LifeSuccess Group of Companies. She accepted the position with one condition - that I would support the moves and changes that she would make 100 percent. I gave her my commitment and told her to go to work.

Sandy has taken the success principles from her legal career and combined them with the best material we've got and is making tremendous headway in taking our company LifeSuccess Productions to a brand new level. Our Consulting and Coaching division is experiencing tremendous growth. We are attracting new people all the time thanks to her expert direction.

Five months after she accepted the position, on May the 14th 2009, she drafted a letter that was sent to over 2000 clients and colleagues advising them that she was closing her practice and leaving the profession. The day she sent that letter she phoned me and she said I've got the letter all ready to send but I'm experiencing tremendous reluctance. What she was actually experiencing was something we refer to as the "terror barrier" something every one of us experiences when we go to make a change that could be considered a quantum leap ahead, to do something we consider more growth oriented. This is a real phenomenon, here is a person that is making a move to do something they truly want to do and yet all their emotions are moving in high gear trying to stop them. That's why we refer to this as the terror barrier - they are virtually being paralyzed with fear. With most people the fear wins and they stop them self from doing the thing t hey really want to do. Sandy refused to let the fear win.

I said Sandy, "JUMP, hit the send button, you'll develop wings on the way down." And as she sent that letter I could hear a squeal of fear coming out of her voice. But she never looked back. She stepped out and did the thing she really wanted to do. So you see she did leave the Board Room for the Board Room but in her world it was a huge change.

And although this didn't happen overnight, it all took place when she began to seriously ask herself what she really wanted. And the beautiful truth is, the day she made that decision to question what she was doing with her life was the day creative energy really began to flow through her. And she created the program that is changing the lives of people in companies all over the world.

When you do what you love, everyone you come in contact with benefits from it.

I love when I watch Sandy speaking to people in seminars and asking them "What do you really want?"

Ulogisk skoleplan uden reelle besparelser

Svært at se lyspunkter

Corporate Social Responsibility - CSR

Min "hvorfor"-faktor; at træde udenfor komfortzonen

Brands face a difficult choice. Social Networking is exploding worldwide. Brands can ignore them.

Brands can integrate with them (Toyota Scion and Second Life, Vodafone and MySpace, Microsoft and Facebook, Warner Music and YouTube, CapGemini and Facebook).

Brands can buy them -
(NewsCorp-MySpace, Google-YouTube, Cisco-FiveAcross).

Brands can build their own (Proctor & Gamble-Capessa, Toyota Hybrid Social Network, Barack Obama Presidential Candidate 2008).

Brands can choose some of the above, all of the above or none of the above but whichever they decide the decision is a tough one wrought with pain and the subsequent implementation options likely to involve Boardroom concern.

My name is Thomas Power and I’ve been building (www.ecademy.com), studying and analysing social networks and social media for 10 years. I find the subject fascinating and much more than a passing fad. I like talking to people about social networking, I like listening to people’s view on social networking and I like addressing audiences on social networking. I’ve met 9,000 Ecademy members face to face in 43 countries. I’ve done my homework.

Social Networking is about managing a dialogue with your chosen audience be they consumers, suppliers, shareholders, public institutions, media, fans or business people.

In many ways social networking is an advanced form of Direct Marketing and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) from the 1970s, 80s and 90s.

There is however a big difference because in the past the brand was in control now the tables have turned and your audience is in control. This is scary. They are scary.

Buzzwords like User Generated Content (UGC) and Web 2.0 are not helpful because they do not explain what is really happening and few people know what these phrases mean let alone how to act upon them.

When an audience is in control they can criticise your brand, they can criticise your products, they can criticise your management style, they can criticise your directors and worse they can criticise your share price. They can make your share price go up as well as down. They can hurt you and they do if you deserve it.

I think for publicly listed companies like NewsCorp, Google and Cisco the decision to buy social networks has not been taken lightly.

It does not take a brain surgeon to realise that NewsCorp, Google and Cisco are capable of extending these social networks into mobile phones, credit cards, banking and insurance services. Afterall we have seen this done before with ebay acquiring PayPal (banking payment services) and Skype (telephone services). Do you know the plans of these three organisations? Do you think you should know or at least have a sense of what they are up to? Do you even care?

So what does this all mean for you?

You have to decide what path you wish to take, a slow gentle partnership entrance to the market or a bold strong fast entrance to the market.

Whatever you decide you have to capture and communicate with your chosen audience sooner rather than later. If you don’t, someone else will and they will charge you a king’s ransom to access your audience.

We are in the early stages of brands becoming media companies in their own right and many will choose to stick to their core competence which I consider a risky strategy.

I have never been a fan of core competence thinking. Is Google really just a search engine? Was Microsoft just a software company? Did IBM just make adding machines? Did Virgin just sell records?

So what are the brand benefits of social networking?

Product testing and market research has to be one of the biggest benefits.

Having a direct dialogue and conversation with your consumers in real time 24 hours a day, 7 days a week is another positive benefit.

Yet another benefit is speed and the ability to launch new products within hours rather than months with instant feedback on successes and of course flaws.

Personally I like the benefit of meeting my consumers face to face on a regular basis – Ecademy members organise 400 events a month across the globe. We didn’t realise they would do this themselves. It was not in our business planning.

Consumers teach you things inside social networks. They tell you what they want and how they want it. They tell you about pricing, about product changes and enhancements, about things you have right and things you have wrong.

They do things you are not expecting. They do things you cannot yet imagine. Inside social networks your consumers are alive and kicking, talking to one another, sharing thoughts, supporting one another and expressing themselves.

Brands in many ways are about self expression and choice be that through clothing, be that through cars, be that through hotels, airlines or restaurants.

The internet is a vehicle for consumers to totally engage with brands effectively turning brands “inside out” to form an “outside in” environment. This is a big change for brands, a change that’s likely to transition over 10 years.

The Shift to Liquids

The Shift to Liquids

BK Boreyko, President and CEO of New Vision and Vemma, traces the nutrition industry's evolution toward more liquid products. "Technology in the 1980s was tableting; in the 90's it was capsules; and now we've moved into liquids," he explains. "People get pill fatigue. USA Today said that 85 percent of Americans supplement, but they get tired of swallowing all those pills. And liquids appeal to either end of the age spectrum. Their nutrients are easily absorbed by adults, and the good taste passes the kid test."

One of the early entrants into the nutritional beverage category was Tahitian Noni International (TNI), which offers Tahitian Noni® juice, based on a fruit native to the islands of Tahiti. The noni plant produces a greenish-gold fruit that reportedly supports the immune system, boosts energy levels and is rich in antioxidants. TNI has expanded to more than 70 countries with several product lines and even cafés, all based on noni. The company's first year's sales totaled well more than $6 million; sales in 2005 were $531 million.

Shon Whitney, TNI's Vice President of Marketing Communications, says the choice of a liquid form for Tahitian Noni® juice dates to when founder John Wadsworth sampled the noni fruit in Tahiti and was convinced that the incredible product should be offered to the world. "Juice is noni's traditional preparation but, on the business side, it's easily consumable," he says. "We found early on that people would buy it and use it very quickly. Then they wanted more."

For CyberWize, which markets Tunguska Blast, the decision to offer a liquid rather than a pill or capsule was based on nutritional effectiveness-what the industry calls efficacy. CyberWize's Vice President of International Development Mark Baker says the product's powerful antioxidants are most effectively delivered as a liquid.
"Short of injecting them into a vein, the best way to consume them is orally in liquid form," Baker says. "Pills and tablets are not fully digestible, especially by the mature population. It's estimated that in individuals over 50 years old, as much as 70 percent of pills pass through the digestive system intact. The body has to break down everything it consumes into a liquid, anyway. A tonic is a superior delivery system." Launched early this year, monthly sales of herb-based Tunguska Blast have grown 15 to 20 percent a month.

Pharmanex based its decision to add a liquid supplement to its already extensive product line on research. "We looked at the overall business opportunity, and the category itself is focusing on juices," explains Joe Chang, Ph.D., Executive Scientific Officer and Executive Vice President, Product Development at Pharmanex's parent company Nu Skin. "Whenever any company does a market survey, most consumers are more favorable to drinking something rather than swallowing something. When a person opens the bottle and drinks three or four ounces of the product every time they open the fridge, they take the daily dose easily. At the end of the day, we must make it easy for the consumer to take our product." Chang also notes the company felt that launching a liquid could be a risk. "We thought if we offered a liquid supplement that people would migrate from our capsules and pills over to the liquid," he says. "But we're finding that the liquid supplement actually adds to increased consumption of Life Pack, our best-selling product. It was an interesting, unexpected dynamic. There has been very little cannibalization of revenue." Pharmanex launched its liquid "superfruit" product, which it calls g3T, in the United States in 2005 and in early 2006 in its more than 40 other markets. G3 is now its No. 2 seller, globally.

The Limu Company took its sea-plant-based beverage, Original LimuT, into 20 countries in 12 months, doing $10 million in wholesale business in its first year. "That's unheard of for first-year companies in direct selling," says company President Gary Raser. Now 3 years old, the company continues to grow rapidly. "Every month for the last 12 months, we've had double-digit growth over the previous month," he says. Explaining the liquid form of his company's product, Raser says, "Our main product is a sea vegetable, and it's in its most efficacious form if kept liquid. We flavor it with all-natural, organic papaya and mango purée to give it a flavor that consumers enjoy. In bringing the product to market, we found that a liquid form is also easier to take than handfuls of pills. It doesn't replace them, it's just an easier, new form as opposed to pills. But for us, liquid is the only option, because it offers the most nutritional benefit."

Juice was a natural choice for XanGo's mangosteen-based beverage. "The average American consumer opens their fridge 34 times a day," says John Digles, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing. "When they have a juice right there smiling at them and they like the taste, you can build brand loyalty. Taste is a significant factor in creating a premium brand so, because the mangosteen fruit is a gorgeous-tasting creation, juice seemed like the perfect delivery system to bring the whole fruit to the marketplace." Now offering a product in 14 countries, 4-year-old XanGo had triple-digit annual sales growth until 2005. The company expects 30 percent sales growth this year.

4Life Research wanted to reach an audience that had difficulty popping pills. So it put its primary product, Transfer Factor®, into a fruit-based beverage it calls RioVidaT. "Liquids cross barriers with children or others who have a hard time swallowing pills," says 4Life's Senior Vice President of Marketing Trent Tenney. "RioVida has enabled us to get Transfer Factor to many people around the world." After two years of research, in May 2005 4Life launched RioVida in 40 countries. It uses a blend of açai berry, pomegranate, blueberry, elderberry, grape and apple juices with Transfer Factor, which combines nutritional elements from cow colostrum and egg yolks.

Making Quality Consumable

As they manufacture and bottle their liquid supplements, direct sellers are committed to quality, sometimes owning their manufacturing facilities. Those who contract with manufacturers or bottlers go to great lengths to ensure that they deliver safe, consistent, fresh, high-quality products.

"We own our own manufacturing facility for liquid products," notes BK Boreyko of New Vision, which markets Forté Juice and other nutrition products. "From raw materials to the final product, every step of the way we have testing and checks put in place. And owning our own manufacturing facility lets us deliver more quickly. When a consumer's bottle of Forté Juice is delivered, they can be assured that it was manufactured just four to six weeks ago, on average."

CyberWize starts the Tunguska Blast manufacturing process in Siberia where the product's 10 herbs are harvested and blended. "The Russian company we work with has been doing this with the same herbs for years and worked out the bugs decades ago," CyberWize President Mark McCool says. "Then we bring it to the United States, where we work with a GMP-certified (good manufacturing process) bottling plant. We make regular visits to the plant to test and ensure that our product is of consistently high quality."

For XanGo, "It's a real process," Digles says. "The mangosteen is a fragile fruit, and we give it tender loving care to get it where it is. We have farms in Southeast Asia growing the best product; then we pick only the best fruit and purée it, so consumers are getting the whole fruit. Then it goes through rigorous, standardized testing to ensure that we're giving people a consistently high-quality product. One of our goals is sustained sales, and people won't come back if you're not giving them a consistently great product."

Tahitian Noni International harvests noni from 80 Polynesian islands and brings it to a central point in Tahiti for processing. From there, the process moves to various bottling plants around the world to satisfy the requirements of different regions. The process is complex-harvester certification of, quality control on the island before the product leaves Tahiti then more quality control during bottling. "The purée process alone is checked every four minutes," TNI's Whitney says. "Six times during processing the product is checked for quality and safety. It's a big deal to us to be sure that Tahitian Noni is safe and consistent."

The Limu Company has an independent third party check every batch of Original Limu. "That's important, because you stake your reputation on the integrity and quality of the product," Limu's Raser says. "We have to ensure that every bottle is consistent, safe and good-tasting. All those things are critically important to our continued success."

Pharmanex also follows GMP standards. "We employ six specific steps in our quality manufacturing process-selection of fruit; qualification of vendors and suppliers; standardization; identification and assurance of active ingredients; safety; and science and substantiation studies," Chang says. "If you don't make a good-quality product, someone will buy it once, but it's unlikely they'll come back again. Once we've captured a customer, we like the product itself to keep the customer in the family."

Rejecting Retail

Direct sellers know that their products' consumers roughly reflect the demographics of their distributors-above the age of 35 and usually female. They're often the family caregivers, and their families rely on them. To reach those consumers in a way that makes their nutrition beverages stand out from the crowded field of competitors, company executives feel that direct selling stands head-and-shoulders above any other sales and distribution method.

TNI's Whitney explained a line of reasoning echoed by others. "In a traditional product introduction, you would put the product on a store shelf and use advertising to explain to the public why they should purchase it," he says. "Just a few large companies hold sway about what is on the shelves and where it is displayed. With a product like ours, in the early years no one had heard the name noni, much less why they should buy. Direct selling was a perfect way to tell such a rich story, and we've found it to be very effective. In the last few years, several of our competitors have attempted to go retail, but no one is more than 10 percent of our size. We have repeat sales at the 90 percent rate. Direct selling is absolutely perfect for this kind of product."

XanGo's Digles agrees. "It comes down to more than 500,000 passionate advocates worldwide," he says. "Word-of-mouth on XanGo juice, its taste and brand cachet have been a key part of our business. Customers try it, like it and keep coming back. That lets our distributors build relationships, giving consumers a sense of personal service."

4Life's Tenney notes that his distributors' familiarity with the consumers they serve is a huge benefit. "The primary advantage with direct selling is that you know who you're speaking to," he says. "You have an audience who you've identified as a person who is interested in nutritional products, as opposed to putting the product on a shelf with an untrained clerk and not knowing the end user. We know the users of our products, what they're looking for and their aspirations."

Aktiespekulation vs. pyramidespil

Kvindeguiden.dk vildleder deres brugere

Louise nævner bl.a.

--- Ja, fint nok - men HVORFOR?
